OUR STORY – WE SWIPED RIGHT

The weekend

We’re excited to spend quality time with you, creating shared memories and funny stories to remember long into the future. No pressure. There’s something organised for each day, and most of it is centred around the hotel which we have all to ourselves.

There’ll be music, good food, a pool and a garden to enjoy, but also some time to relax and explore this beautiful little town.

As the sun sets on Saturday evening we’d love for everyone to join us in marking the occasion with a little celebration of our love. Then there will be more food, cocktails, and time for those dance moves!

Friday, 05 July

Welcome

Starting around 7 pm we’ll gather for some welcome drinks and a few bites. Come get to know the people who you will be spending the weekend with.

Saturday, 06 July

The party (with a ring)

Let’s enjoy the day together with a Portuguese BBQ around 2 pm, poolside drinks, songs for the saudade. Around 7 pm we’ll have a quick wedding ring moment and then it’s time to party.

Sunday, 07 July

The after-party

Can’t get enough of us? Join the poolside after-party. Let’s make sure nothing goes to waste with a delicious brunch.

Talk to us

Please let us know the following by latest 6th June:
1. How many adults (and children) in your party?
2. Which days will you be joining us for?
3. Will you be in Milfontes before or after the weekend?
4. Dietary requirements? Any allergies?
5. Have you packed your sunscreen?

DRESS CODE & GIFTS

You do you

So what to wear? For the evening wear something fancy! If fancy for you is Hawaiian shirt and sandals, you go girl. If you want to go full tux then maybe also have a fan on hand. It’s going to be hot hot hot. The dancing will be done on a grass lawn, so high heels are not advised.

What to give?

We really appreciate that you’ve travelled from close and far to join us in our moment at the sun. So we say this sincerely: your presence is our greatest present. For everything else there is Mastercard.

GETTING THERE

There's a bus from Lisbon.

It takes 2 to 3 hours. Please just book it 5 weeks in advance when tickets go on sale, or ask us to help you book it. On the way back the earliest you can get back to Lisbon is around lunch time, so if you have a flight departing before 2 pm it’s best to travel the day before.

You could also end up paying a taxi driver €150 to get you there on time, but who’d do that, right?

Feel free to ask us for help if needed, no need to go in circles. If you decide to rent a car, well… not much to read here then. You know Google maps, right?

RECOMMENDATIONS

Come for the party, stay for the bolinhos

Some of you are travelling long distances, so we wanted to share with you some of what we love so that if you decide to spend a few extra days exploring hopefully these recommendations give you a nice place to start…

01.

Milfontes

We picked this beautiful little place for a reason. It has plenty of good restaurants and one bar, you can walk for miles through the cute little village, along the estuary, out to the lighthouse and the dunes, and out along the wild Atlantic Coast.

The town is pretty small, so most places are within a 10 minute walk.  The ocean is pretty wild and cold, so we usually swim in the river estuary.

We’re looking to see if we can secure some sunbeds with umbrellas down by the beach. It’ll be a nice spot to hang out with other guests and have some shade.

We’ll show you some of our favourite spots.

02.

Lisboa

This is probably where you’ll land. Spend a few days, it’s amazing. We’ll add a few more of favourites here soon, but here are a few…

Red Frog – speakeasy cocktail bar that has a little lab attached where they create magic. Well worth it, but please reserve as far ahead as possible.

Cantinho do Avillez – Great food, we eat here at least once every time we’re in town. They also have a fancier one and a more taverna-ey one.

The Time-Out food market – sounds like a tourist trap, but there’s lots of good food here.

03.

Portugal

If you have more time, or fancy landing in Porto instead and taking a trip down, there’s plenty to see. First off, Porto. It’s the other major city, but feels more relaxed than Lisboa. Ask us for recommendations, there’s plenty that isn’t the main tourist drag, but even that for a day or two is beautiful.

Between Lisboa and Porto is Coimbra, It’s an old university town that looks like it was built on top of a gigantic rock. Old, like hundreds of years, rock like in very steep and picturesque.

Sintra. A train ride away from Lisboa to the west. The highlight is a castle that was built with all the styles and beautiful garden grounds that you’ll get lost in. Take a snack.

If you’re driving from Lisboa to Milfontes stop in Setúbal for the chokra. Deep fried cuttlefish. If you wan’t a little lunch on the way, this is it. Also, it’s not little. Ask for one portion to share.

04.

Amsterdam

Canals, clogs and tulips. Feel free to come and visit us before 28th June when we’ll be flying to Portugal. Happy to give you a bunch of tips and take you out to dinner somewhere nice. Maybe we can find you a bed too.
